Strategies for Effective Periodontal Case Presentation: A Text-Based Course

Core Competency Credit Course

This independent study course is a text-based version of "Strategies for Effective Periodontal Case Presentation--An Internet Based Course". The exact course content is packaged in a self-instructional manual. As with the Internet-based course, this text-based course uses actual cases to outline the six steps involved in effective periodontal case presentation. Upon completion of this course, you will be better prepared to discuss your patient's periodontal status, the proposed treatment, and probable outcomes.

You will learn how to:

  • involve your patient in the resolution of their periodontal disease.
  • provide reassurance for long-term periodontal health.
  • present the option of referral for specialized treatment.
  • outline a periodontal treatment plan.
  • show your patients how they can improve their periodontal health.
  • obtain a commitment from your patient to move forward with treatment.
