Developing Skills for Dietary Counseling

Core Competency Credit Course

This practical course will give the dental professional a method for dietary counseling in the dental office and will serve as a guide to more intensive study in the areas of nutrition, dental caries and patient counseling. Participants complete an actual dietary counseling session which is audio taped.

With this detailed course you will learn how to:

  • recognize conditions in the dental patient which indicate the need for dietary counseling.
  • record a five-day food diary.
  • plan a modified daily diet for patients with dietary deficiencies.
  • utilize food models, charts, forms and posters as teaching aids with dietary counseling.
