Recordkeeping Workshop for the Dental Team

Core Competency Credit Course

Thursday afternoon, October 30, 2008

Do you know if your office's dental recordkeeping system satisfies the Minnesota Board of Dentistry's minimum recordkeeping requirements? Would you like to meet your professional development core competency requirement in recordkeeping?

This half-day workshop is designed for dentists and dental team members who would like a review and update on the essential components of the dental record. The continuing dental education course will include practical discussions on treatment planning as it relates to the dental record. Topics will focus on recording the: 1) dental examination, 2) medical history, 3) diagnosis and treatment, and 4) informed consent, as well as communicating this information to your patient. Handouts will include samples of forms, progress notes, recordkeeping systems and the Minnesota Board of Dentistry rule related to recordkeeping.

Upon completion of this workshop you will be able to:

  • evaluate the recordkeeping system you currently use in your office.
  • apply current recordkeeping standards in your practice.
  • document and communicate treatment options with your patient.
  • document informed consent in your dental record.
