Miniresidency in Pediatric Dentistry

Core Competency Credit Course

Friday-Sunday, April 25-27, 2008

Would you like to provide a wider range of services for your pediatric patients? Are you looking for a way to meet your AGD Mastership requirements in pediatric dentistry?

This three-day participation course is designed for general dentists who desire up-to-date and practical information in order to enhance their clinical acumen in pediatric dentistry. The course is taught by two highly regarded pediatric dentists with extensive clinical and teaching experience. You will benefit from practical lectures, laboratory exercises, and case presentations. One-third of the program is dedicated to hands-on exercises and will fulfill the AGD requirements for mastership credit in pediatric dentistry. The course has been revised to provide additional hands-on experience in preparing primary teeth for pulpotomies, stainless steel crowns and celluloid crown forms.

You will receive clinically relevant information on:

  • pediatric dentistry guidelines and standards of care.
  • physical and behavioral assessment of the child patient.
  • dental caries risk assessment, management and restorative options.
  • pulp therapy for children.
  • orthodontic applications for the pediatric patient including the management of space maintenance.
  • pain and anxiety management for children.
  • managing traumatic injuries in the primary and young permanent dentition.

You will also gain hands-on experience with:

  • stainless steel crown preparation and adaptation
  • arch length maintainer design and fabrication
  • preparing teeth for a pulpotomy
  • preparing and restoring fractured primary incisors
