Core Competency Credit Course

Has it been awhile since you attended the TMD and Orofacial Pain Miniresidency at the University of Minnesota? Would you like an update in the field of TMD and Orofacial Pain?

This continuing dental education course is designed for dentists and physical therapists who have completed the three-day TMD and Orofacial Pain Miniresidency at the University of Minnesota. You will be brought up to date on the latest evidence and current clinical strategies for treating TM disorders and patients who present with orofacial pain. The course format will include: 1) illustrated lectures, 2) concurrent breakout sessions, plus 3) case presentations and group discussions. This continuing dental education course is designed to be interactive and includes multiple opportunities for small group discussions. In addition, you are welcome to bring cases from your practice for group analysis and treatment planning.

You will be able to select three breakout sessions from the following options:

  • Epidemiology of TMD
  • Management of the Demanding Patient
  • Medications for Pain Management
  • Differential Diagnosis of Non-Odontogenic Tooth Pain
  • Physical Therapy Intervention for the Acute Closed Lock
  • Physical Therapy Intervention for the Chronic Closed Lock/DJD
  • Post Operative Physical Therapy Including Total Joint Replacement
  • TMD Evidence-Based Research
  • How to Evaluate the Literature
