| Friday-Saturday, January 23-24, 2009 Would you like to enhance your skills in evaluating dental information and products? Do you need to know how to develop a research plan? This course will give you the tools to critique the dental literature and to ask probing questions from your sales representatives about their dental products. You will also learn methods of research design, data collection and interpretation that you need to know to develop a research proposal. You will come away from this course with the capacity to: 1) pose a research question, 2) prepare a research project, and 3) apply analytical skills to everyday practice. Open to dentists and dental team members who are interested in furthering their knowledge and skill in dental research. Experienced dental scientists will show you how to: - identify the types of research design and statistical methods used in dental research today.
- develop and use a database.
- evaluate dental articles by their respective levels of evidence.
- use computer searches for locating sources of information.
- identify a research project and mentor.
- develop a research plan.
- write a research paper.
Eligibility: This course is open to any dentist or dental team member who wants to learn more about dental research. It is also a core module in the Postgraduate Certificate Program in Contemporary Restorative and Esthetic Dentistry.
