 | Core Competency Credit Course | Wednesday-Saturday, March 26-29, 2008 During this continuing dental education course, you will learn when periodontal and orthodontic therapies are indicated to enhance the esthetic outcome of restorative cases. You will also learn how to evaluate facial esthetics including cephalometric analysis and will perform limited orthodontics on models to enhance anterior facial esthetics and to upright molars. In addition, you will see how it is possible to eliminate uneven gingival contours, lengthen crowns, recontour interdental papilla, preserve the alveolar ridge and optimize periodontal esthetics around natural, restored teeth and dental implants. The continuing dental education course includes lectures, workshops using fixed and removable orthodontic appliances and periodontal stints as well as round table discussions of esthetic cases with orthodontic and periodontal considerations from your practice. Upon completion of the course, you will be able to: - diagnose and treatment plan limited orthodontic and periodontal treatment as part of the overall esthetic restorative treatment plan.
- use cephalometric analysis as part of the facial esthetic evaluation.
- perform limited orthodontic treatment for facial anterior esthetics using fixed applicances.
- perform limited orthodontic treatment (e.g. molar uprighting) using removable orthodontic appliances.
- direct when and how to correct uneven gingival contours, lengthen crowns, reshape interdental papilla, preserve alveolar ridge after extractions and maximize periodontal esthetics around teeth and dental implants.
- fabricate a periodontal stint to provide guidance for the periodontist in the ginginval contours desired for restorative treatment.
